Mrs. Aquilla Turner Green, 98, affectionately known as "Coot", departed her earthly journey on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.
Mrs. Green was a lifelong resident of Randolph County. She was born on August 28, 1919 as the second daughter of Lee Turner and Minnie Evans Turner.
She loved children and was employed for years with Fulp Day Nursery in Trinity. Until her health declined, she was a faithful member of St. Mary's United Methodist Church of Trinity. There she served as a member of the Senior Usher Board.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Toyd Green and three sisters, Elizabeth Gannaway, Alma Rita Spencer, and Leora Morrison.
Surviving relatives include a devoted son, Toyd Lee Green (Dalnes "Cookie") of Ft. Washington, MD; granddaughter, Cynthia Green of Greensboro, NC; grandson, Toyd Lee Green, Jr. "TJ" of Colonial Beach, VA; three great grandchildren, Jordan, William, and Sydney; a number of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, specifically Ann Hardy and Willard Gannaway who visited with her regularly; many very dear and special friends.
A Service of Celebration will be held 12:30p.m., Saturday, September 16, 2017, at St. Mary's United Methodist Church, 5583 Rockford Drive, Trinity, North Carolina. The family will receive visitors and friends at the church on Saturday, 12 noon to 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park.
