Mr. David Alford, Jr., 74, of 702 Gordon St., formerly of SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation for the Triad for 13 years, and Wesley Long Nursing Center, Greensboro for one month, died March 23, 2006 at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro.

He was born March 8, 1932 in Robeson County, a son of David Alford, Sr., and Emma Brown Alford. For 41 years he was a resident of High Point, coming from Bennettsville, S.C., where he was a member of St. Beulah Baptist Church.

One brother, James Alford, and one sister, Inez Evans, both preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Easter Emanuel Alford of the home; two sons, Lonnell Alford and his wife, Reatha, of High Point, and David Dwain Alford and his wife, Latasha, of Covington, Ga.; four daughters, Mary Alford Harper and her husband, Pastor Carl Harper, Elizabeth A. Staton and her husband, Alfred, all of Greensboro, Lula Farabee and her husband, Walter of High Point, and Emma Dennis and her husband, Pastor Gregory Dennis, of Winston Salem; 14 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; five sisters, Adell Freeney of Syracuse, N.Y., Leatha Mae Canty, Emma B. Eaddy, Bessie Smith, and Louise Sinkler, all of Bennettsville, S.C.; sister-in-law, Mary Alford of High Point; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral will be Tuesday, March 28, 2006, 12:00 noon, at Love and Faith Christian Fellowship, 4344 Blackberry Rd., Greensboro, with Pastor Michael Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park. Public viewing will be at Haizlip Funeral Home Monday, 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday, 11:30 a.m., and other times at the residence.

Haizlip Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
