Ms. Wonica Denise Walker transitioned to her heavenly home on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in Winston Salem, NC. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 17, 1966, to the late George Odell Walker, Sr., and Bertha Pearl Ellison.
She attended public schools and graduated from Regina High School in Cleveland, Ohio and furthered her education at Toledo University. After relocating to Greensboro, NC, she earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from North Carolina A&T State University. She excelled in her studies and gained valuable knowledge and skills throughout her academic journey. Her professional career included limited positions at American Express, Replacement Limited, Harris Teeter and HHGregg. where she continued to demonstrate her talents and leave a positive impact. Her journey is a testament to the power of hard work and determination.
Wonica was a vibrant, kind, generous, and loving person with a beautiful sense of humor that brought joy and laughter to others. In her leisure time, she loves watching movies, especially her favorite one, “The Godfather.” She treasured the moments spent with her loving daughter Raven and their extended family, cherishing every opportunity to create lasting memories together.
She is loved and deeply missed by her daughter, Raven Walker Golston. She will always be loved and remembered as the youngest sister among her siblings, Willie Louise Cathey and George Odell Walker, Jr., and the late Barbara and Sally Walker Brown. Furthermore, her memory will be honored by the aunts and cousins of those respective generations.
A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Johnson & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, High Point, NC. The family will receive visitors and friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. A burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park, Greensboro, NC.
