Willie LeGrande Obituary

Mrs. Willie Lois LeGrande transitioned to her heavenly home on Monday, June 1, 2020 at her residence. She was born on February 1, 1929 in High Point, North Carolina to the late Lindsay Golden and Julia (Bailey) Byrd.

Willie was educated in the High Point Public Schools and attended William Penn High School and shared memories with classmates Mrs. Flossie Little and Mr. Luciol” Gentleman” Wilson.

She was an employee at Fli-Back Toy Company, Anvil Brand and Burlington Industries.

At an early age, she accepted her Christian faith. She was a lifetime member of First Emmanuel Baptist Church which she loved dearly. Her service included, a member of the choir, Missionary Circle #3 and was designated one of “The Mothers of the Church.”

Her favorite scripture was Matthew 7:7 (KJV). “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”

Willie was known for her caregiving spirit to all especially to her mom and husband in their declining health. She enjoyed her family and could be depended on for her prayers, encouragement and support. She loved to wash on Mondays and hung clothes on the clothesline. The clothes dryer was not an appliance she wanted. When the clothes were dry she would fold them right off the line with precision and love.

Willie Lois LeGrande transitioned to the next life and will join her beloved husband Crawford, daughter Phyllis LeGrande Brown, and her six siblings Lindsay Jr., Berretha, Richard, John, Carrie Mae and Lessie Mae.

Those left to cherish her memory are Children: Michael LeGrande, Gordon Wayne (Louise)LeGrande, Kathy LeGrande, Saundra (Rodney/Nick) Garner. Grandchildren: Michelle, Donichee “Tony”, Vanita, Darrick”Toy”, Michael Jr. and Sydney. Former daughter-in-law Georgia L. Shepard and former son-in-law Rodney Boyd, Great-grandchildren: Chastity, Taj, Saveon and Jayden. Sister-in-law Ida LeGrande and as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her Signature saying: “I“ Love you! Love you! Love you! Keep praying and thanking the Lord and I know you are.”

A private Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at the Chapel of Johnson and Sons Funeral Home, 206 Fourth Street, High Point, North Carolina.  Burial will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. The public may view during the hours of 12 - 5pm on Saturday and from 10 - 12pm on Sunday.     " A Memorial Service will be held at a later date"
