Willie Green Obituary

Willie Dean Green was born on January 14, 1952, in High Point, North Carolina, to the now late Virginia Curtis Green and Billy Green. To this union, he was the 4th of 10 children. His earthly life came to a close on April 28, 2025. He peacefully transitioned at Hospice of the Piedmont in High Point, North Carolina, after a sudden brief illness.

Willie’s early public education was in High Point, North Carolina. Later, he attended GTCC (Formerly GTI) in Jamestown, NC where he earned an associate’s degree in electronic engineering. He recently retired from Duke Energy with over 30 years of service. In his younger years, Willie attended First Emmanuel Baptist Church in High Point.  Most recently Willie was a faithful member of Stokesdale Church of God, where he was Church Treasurer, Youth Sunday School Teacher, and Van Driver.

Willie was a “Jack of All Trades”.  He enjoyed working on projects for his family and friends, working in his garden, mowing his lawn, and talking to anyone and everyone he met.  He never met a stranger and was willing to help anyone in need.  He was a loving and protective father of his two sons, Gerard and Rodney who are deeply saddened by his passing.

In 1974 Willie married the love of his life, Janice Henderson Green.  They were married 49 years until Janice’s death on February 9, 2024. Now they are “Together Again Forever”.

In addition to his wife and parents he was also preceded in death by paternal grandparents:  Jim and Florence Green and maternal grandparents:  Steve and Elizabeth Curtis.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his sons, Gerard (Nikia) Green and Rodney (Audreana) Green; his “Heart and Joy,” and loving granddaughter, Kaelyn Green; One and only brother:  John Green (Beulah); sisters: Shirley Council, Liz Bridges-Smith (Lorenzo), Sarah Barringer, Louise Warren, Vanessa Buckson (William), Pattie Hinson (Bobbie), Sharon Kindle (Maurice), Rhonda Sepulveda (Paul); a host of nephews and nieces, aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends who are deeply saddened by his passing.

A service Celebrating the Life of Mr. Willie Green will take place graveside at Carolina Biblical Gardens, Jamestown, North Carolina.  The service will take place at 12 noon, on Friday May 2, 2025.
