William Malachi, known by family and friends as “Cool One, “departed this earthly life at home on Friday, September 15, 2023. He was born November 20, 1952, in Bennettsville, S.C., the son of the now late Handy Malachi, Sr., and Theola Malachi.
William obtained and completed his education in the Marlboro County school system. He worked for several manufacturing companies before finding his passion in construction. He enjoyed traveling and working in Bennettsville, SC. William later relocated to High Point, NC, where he discovered his true calling and embarked on a fulfilling career with the Greensboro Transit Agency (GTA) until his retirement.
When he was young, William received baptism at Smyrna United Methodist Church in Bennettsville, SC, and was honored on the church’s cornerstone, which is still in place today. William was a loving family man who adored his children. Despite his imperfections, he was regarded as the epitome of perfection in the eyes of his loved ones and children. Everyone in his presence was captivated by his humorous personality, which earned him the admiration of all. His legacy will continue to inspire and comfort those fortunate to have known him.
In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Edgnora Washington, and one brother, Handy Malachi, Jr.
Left to cherish fond memories are his wife of fourteen years, Faith Boulware Malachi, of the home; four children, Latoya Malachi and Parrish Hammond both of New York; Sameka Bright of Bennettsville, SC; Dallas Bright of Kernersville, NC; seventeen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six sisters, Ruth (James) Barretine of McCormick, SC; Odessa Malachi and Theola Rose both of Brooklyn, NY; Jeannette Malachi of Greensboro, NC; Joyce Malachi of Bennettsville, SC; Gwendolyn Malachi of High Point, NC; two brothers, Wilson (Elsie) Malachi of High Point, NC; Roderick Malachi of Greensboro, NC; special friend, Mike McRae, and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
A Service of Celebration will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Williams Memorial CME Church. The family will receive visitors and friends from 12 to 12:30pm. The service will start at 12:30.
