William Dockery Obituary

With heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of Mr. William Parnell Dockery AKA (Doc and Par). He was our hero. William departed this earthly life on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Hospice Home of High Point, North Carolina.

William was a native of High Point born February 21, 1964, to James Dockery Sr. and Katie Zimmerman Dockery in High Point, North Carolina.  He was of the Baptist faith all his life.  He graduated from T. Wingate Andrews High School in 1983 where he played and excelled in several sports including football, track and field, and wrestling.

He was employed with Jackson Furniture Industries since 2014, where he was the floor manager for the High Point Showroom located in the furniture plaza building in High Point, North Carolina.  It is the corporation's largest of three showrooms where they display products nationally. He absolutely loved his job and shared a special relationship with his boss Anthony Teague who helped him through some tough times as his health declined. Thank you!

William was truly loved by many and will be remembered for the fun times, laughter, and most of all, for the loving person he was. Despite his sternness, he had a genuine heart of gold and would help anyone in need, even if it took his last.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his older brother James Dockery Jr., his maternal grandparents Mr. Dean and Kate Zimmerman, and paternal grandparents Mr. William and Minnie Dockery.

Surviving to cherish endearing memories include his five children, Marquita Hill and William Dockery Jr, of Charlotte NC,  Monique Dockery and Tamara Dockery of High Point, NC and Keonna Autry of Virginia Beach VA, ten grandchildren, three sisters, Terry Zimmerman, Mardina Dockery and Julia Dockery of High Point NC, one brother, Corey Green of Myrtle Beach SC,  two aunts Mrs. Gloria Christian and Mrs. Maxine McRae of High Point NC, three uncles, Mr. Willie Tabor of Charlotte NC, Mr. Walter Dockery and Mr. Leon Dockery of High Point, NC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be given at 1:00pm on Friday, March 11th at the Chapel of Johnson & Sons. Public viewing Thursday, March 10th from 1:00pm - 7:00pm. "Mask required"

“I am now free from my pain.

In my Father’s arms, I rest.

That’s where I long to be.

You watched for me beside my bed,

Now when you reach the Golden Gate,

I’ll come and lead you through.”
