Mr. William Crone, Sr., age 94, transitioned on Saturday, June 8, 2024. He was born to the union of Bishop O.C. Crone and Pecolia Crone on April 9, 1930, in High Point, North Carolina.
A native of High Point, he attended William Penn High School. He was a dedicated member of the United Church of God and loved singing in the choir. He was formerly employed as a concrete finisher at W.E. Linthicum Concrete Company for forty-seven years until retirement.
William helped start a singing group called the Emmanuel Harmonizers, which traveled and sang all over the triad. They also appeared on Channel 8’s T.V. program called 'Roy's Folks.' Anyone who knew William was touched by his kindness, humor, and mild temperament. He was truly a peacemaker and was always a source of positivity. He will surely be missed.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife, Odelle Marie Crone; two brothers, Manassah “Buster" Crone, and George Crone; and sister, Betty Crone.
He is survived by his children, Dennis, William, Jr., Patricia, Rhonda, and Shelley; brother, Muhsin Basheer (Evon) and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be given on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Chapel of Johnson and Sons Funeral Home, 206 Fourth Street, High Point, North Carolina. The family will receive visitors and friends from 11:30am to 12 noon. The funeral service will start at 12 noon.
