Reidsville – Ms. Vasceylia Dale Dillard, the daughter of the late Alberta and Leroy Hewitt, was born on February 6, 1961, in Manhattan, New York. Following a period of illness, she departed this life on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Moses Cone Hospital.
Being nurtured and a resident of Reidsville for most of her life, she attended the local public schools and was a 1979 graduate of Reidsville Senior High School, where she played basketball and volleyball. She pursued further education at Rockingham Community College and North Carolina A & T State University.
“Boo Boo”, as she was affectionately referred by those who knew and loved her, was one of 12 children. She was a loving mother, not only to her children, but to so many others. Family was always extremely important to her, and her years were spent planning trips, having family functions, and helping to make sure family memories were made.
Before her health began to decline, she enjoyed fishing, swimming and going to the beach. During the course of illness, she never complained, and always tried to help those she could. She enjoyed time at home with her kids and grandkids, her weekly Walmart trips, playing cards and watching weekly virtual sessions of church.
As a community servant, she volunteered for the American Red Cross for many years and was a faithful member of Galilee Pentecostal Holiness Church. “Boo Boo” was an active member of the Missionary Society and a choir member at Galilee.
In addition to her parents, her grandmother, Edna Johnson; grandson, Lennox Long; granddaughter, Loyalty Long; sisters, Constance Dillard and Sandra England; brothers, Larry Dillard and Lenell Hewitt, preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Lashawnda Long (Lionel) and Danielle Watt; son Lamar Hewitt; grandchildren, Maleiha, Lynnx, LaMeir, Shean, Dakota, Tridae, Kyri, Lamar, Kadence, Kinsley, Karson, Tylea and Ashia; siblings, John (Mary), Lena (Samuel), Sharron (William), Patricia, Regina, Cynthia (Wayne) and Gregory (Tammy); aunt, Larinda "Red" Blair; devoted best friend of over 50 years, Debra Herbin; honorary sons, Walter Jones (LaTosha) and Lamont Neal (Shay); honorary daughter, Aisha Hicks; honorary sister, Dr. D. Vanessa Harrison; other relatives and friends.
Special ‘thank you” to all the dedicated medical professionals at Reidsville Davita Dialysis, Dr. Gerald K. Hill and the ADTS driver, Kenny Brown.
