Theodore Roosevelt Galloway, fondly known as "Teddy," was born on October 4, 1960, in Reidsville, North Carolina, to the now late Bishop Franklin Galloway and Ms. Mildred Maire Keesee Galloway. He peacefully departed this life on August 9, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to family and community.
Teddy received his early education through the local city school system and later earned his high school diploma from Job Corps. Throughout his life, he held numerous jobs, showcasing his hardworking nature. He spent years pulling tobacco for local farmers, landscaping yards, moving furniture, and performing countless handyman tasks for those in need. His work was a testament to his commitment to helping others and providing for his family.
Teddy's hobbies reflected his joyful spirit and love for life. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting on his mother's porch, waving at everyone who passed by. He took great pride in protecting his family and his mother's home, ensuring their safety and well-being.
In his later years, Teddy affectionately referred to himself as "Big Daddy" and was often heard saying, "Ain't nobody go bother me, I'm popular round here." His life was indeed well-lived, filled with acts of kindness and service to others. Teddy was more than just a family member or friend; he was our protector, babysitter, dogsitter, resident landscaper, and a one-man moving company. He was the life of the party, always bringing laughter and joy to those around him. Teddy's love for his family and friends was evident in everything he did, and his generous spirit touched the lives of many.
Teddy's passing has left a void that no one can ever fill. We deeply miss his laughter, humor, and infectious smile. Even his daily fussing sessions, which he would forget about the next day, are fondly remembered.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bishop Franklin Galloway; brothers Franklin Galloway, Jr., Nathaniel Galloway, Emmanuel Galloway, William “Tiny Tim” Galloway, and Al Ray Galloway; paternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Elijah and Alice Galloway; and maternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Noah and Fannie Keesee.
Teddy leaves behind a loving family to honor his memory: his children Kiri Galloway, Sierra (William) Galloway, and Duane King; his grandchildren Duane King, Abigail Galloway, King Stevens, Seth Galloway, "Ladybug" Stevens, and Saniyah Galloway; his mother: Mildred Marie Keesee Galloway; his sisters Fannie Adkins and Bettie Galloway-Simmons; his brother Victor (Melinda) Galloway; his aunts Lorene Mills, Darlene Slade, Oliva (Jerry) Jones, Esther Price, Rev. Mitchell Jones, and Rosetta (Lorenzo) Carter; his uncles Allen (Vanessa) Keesee, Noah Keesee, and Otis (Betty) Galloway. His partners: Mr. George McCoy, Mr. Dennis Hall, Michael Houghton (cousin). He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and many dear friends whom he loved and cherished dearly.
Teddy's transition is a profound loss for all who knew him, but his legacy of love and service will continue to inspire us. Rest in peace, dear Teddy, until we meet again.
