Shirlene Bostic Horne, 61, of High Point, North Carolina, passed away on December 30, 2025, surrounded by love. She was a faithful member of her church and lived her life rooted in love, strength, and devotion to family.
Born on October 22, 1964, in Bennettsville, South Carolina, Shirlene was a woman whose presence could light up any room. She was guaranteed to make you laugh and was truly the life of every event. With a big heart and a giving spirit, she touched everyone she met. Shirlene opened her doors—and her kitchen—at all times, making sure her loved ones were always fed, cared for, and welcomed. She was a caring mother, a trusted friend, and unforgettable. She left a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know her.
Shirlene was known for her upbeat personality, her strength, and her no-nonsense attitude—she didn’t take any junk from anyone. She loved deeply, gave freely, and stood firmly for those she cared about. Her laughter, honesty, and warmth will be remembered long after her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mozella James Bostic and Bozie Bostic, and her oldest grandchild, Ty’Quan Washington.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Stevie Horne; four children, Shanetta Bostic, Stevie Horne Jr., Scotty Horne, and Sharia James; grandchildren, Zy’Ricc, Jy’Heem, and Ta’Vion Washington, Sa’Nylia Horne, and Bleu Chatman; and one great-grandson, Jayce Washington. She is also survived by her siblings, Cynthia James (affectionately known as her “Human Baby Doll”), Loriane Bostic (“partner in crime”), and Sandra Bostic Davis (Darren), her “prayer partner.” She also leaves two close cousins who were more like a brother and sister to her, Leroy and Carrie Wright, along with a host of other family and friends who will forever cherish her love, lessons, and memories. Among them was a very special companion whom she loved dearly, Johnathan Malone.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her love, laughter, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Memorial Service will be given on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the Chapel of Johnson and Sons Funeral Home, 206 Fourth St., High Point at 1 0'clock in the afternoon.
