Shannon Bethea Obituary

Mr. Shannon Bethea, born June 15, 1956, passed away on December 17, 2025, surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of strength, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family.

He was a kind, funny, and steadfast man, always willing to give whatever he had to help those he loved. If his family needed him, he showed up—no questions asked. He was the kind of man who would give his last to make sure everyone else was okay.

A true man of men, he found joy in the simple, meaningful things in life. He loved to cook for his family, filling the house with warmth, laughter, and the sound of Anita Baker playing in the background. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and most of all, checking in on his people—making sure everyone was alright, even when he didn’t have to.

To know him was to know loyalty, consistency, and love in action. He was more than any title; he was a protector, a provider, and a steady presence that will never be forgotten.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Mae Southerland (Bethea); his father, Eddie D. Bethea; his siblings, James Bethea, Vonzie L. Bethea, and Eddie L. Bethea; and his nephews, Johnny R. Parker and Laqualius Little.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Morshonda Gant (Boozer) and Scottie J. Gant; his four grandchildren, Jai’Darius Titus, N’Quanaysia Titus, Shykeimeon Bethea, and Lamontae Bethea; and his great-grandchild, Ky’aire Bethea.

He is also survived by his siblings, Linda Morgan (Bethea) and Thomas Ray Bethea; his three nieces, Zerita Bethea, Sherry Bethea, and Toya Bethea; his nephew, Steven Morgan; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.

Though he may be gone from our sight, his spirit, wisdom, and legacy will live on through every life he touched.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 12:00 pm from the Chapel of Johnson and Sons, 206 Fourth Street, High Point, NC.
