Miss Shakita Myeisha Polk, known to family and friends as “Kita,” passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 6, 2023. She was born in Richmond County, NC, on December 12, 1992, to the late Gregory Lynn Polk and Tokishi Boggan Carelock.
Shakita was a 2011 graduate of High Point Central High School. She was employed with Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen in High Point, NC.
“Kita” was passionate about singing and dancing, she always enjoyed herself regardless of the situation. She was very fiery, outspoken, had a heart of gold, and when she was happy, her eyes would tear up. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family, especially her baby girl, Sha’niyah Lashae Hursey; (keep her in your prayer).
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Brenda Boggan Singleton, and Goldie Lee Polk; grandfathers, LJ Ledbetter and Ervin Gamble, Jr.; great grandmother; Louise Boggan and great grandfather, Ray Boggan.
She leaves to cherish loving memories of her: the love of her life, Sha’niyah Lashae Hursey, mother, Tokishi Boggan Carelock, sister, Tynesha Andreice Carelock; brothers, Tony Carelock, Jr. and Devin Edward Lee; other siblings, Emily Perkins, Laquita Perkins, Willie Perkins and Brandon Smith; great-grandmother, Laura Tobe; nieces and nephews, Amir Carelock, Amari Carelock, and Aria Carelock; aunts, Towanda Boggan, Brenda Boggan, Vicky Ledbetter, Kim Polk (Eddie), and Margaret Polk; great aunts, Paula Harris (Kenny), and Marie Gamble; uncles, Luther Polk (Janet), Jamie Polk (Angie), Ray Ledbetter, Dennis Ledbetter, Ronnie Ledbetter, and Rodney Polk; great uncles, Willie George Rhames, Larry Boggan, and Bobby Boggan; godmother, Linda Hinson; god aunt, Lakresha McIver, special friend, Dominique Bone and host of other relatives and friends.
A Service of Love will be given on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at the Chapel of Johnson and Sons Funeral Home, 206 Fourth Street, High Point, NC. The family will receive visitors and friends from 1pm to 1:30pm and the service will begin at 1:30pm.
