Mr. Scott Michael Tate, 61, affectionately known as "Scoot" by his family and friends, passed away on March 26, 2026. He was born on August 6, 1964, in High Point, North Carolina, to Mittie Tate Barr and the late, Thomas “Jackie” Moore.
In addition to his father, He was preceded in death by numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Scott loved his family and close friends, often expressing his feelings with warmth, humor, and uplifting encouragement. His warm smile, friendliness, and genuine kindness made him the person everyone enjoyed talking to, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Whether he was sharing a laugh or offering support, Scott's presence brought joy and comfort to those around him.
Scott was employed until his health began to decline. He enjoyed watching sports, particularly cheering for his favorite team, the Miami Dolphins.
Scott is survived by his mother, Mittie Tate Barr, and his daughter, Brittany Friday, of High Point, NC. He is also survived by two sisters, Marie Morgan and Jannelle Morgan, both of Jamestown, NC; four brothers, Tommy Miller (Fran) of Maryland, John Miller of Greensboro, NC; Cedric Miller and George (Kip) Jackson, II, of High Point, NC; a bonus mother, Lucille Jackson; a special close combo friend, Curtina “Tina” Hale; special cousin, Kim Brown and a host of other cousins, relatives, and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at First Emmanuel Baptist Church, 833 Leonard Avenue, High Point, NC. The service will begin at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the church.
