SSG Corey Brown Obituary

SSG Corey Rashade Brown was born to Angie Renee (Brown) Hall on May 26, 1990 in High Point, NC. Corey was a very talented and popular young man. He loved people and he loved and excelled in every kind of sport from the time he was able to play. 

Corey lived and attended school in Norfolk, VA, Virginia Beach, VA, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Waldorf, Md. and High Point, North Carolina at Southwest High School where he played basketball and football. He graduated from Southwest High School in 2009. He decided to join the United States Army in 2011 where he served in several locations, including Missouri, Germany, Korea, Texas, Arizona, and Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He deployed to Afghanistan during his service where he served as a Military Policeman. 

He received several commendations and awards during his military service, including the Army Achievement Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, and several other decorations and certificates of recognition. Corey was highly respected and admired by all who served with him. 

Corey’s untimely departure on 28 July, 2024 shocked and deeply saddened his loving family, devoted friends, and fellow soldiers and trainees. 

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Essie Brown, maternal grandfather, Leo Brown; uncle, Tommy Brown; paternal grandmother, Mary Hall; aunt, Denise Ivey, Charlene Bond; and uncle, Dennis Sikes. 

Corey leaves behind to cherish loving memories, his son, Corbin Brown; devoted parents, Angie Renee (Brown) Hall and Carl Hall; his brother Brandon Hall; his uncles, Daniel Humphrey and James Stapleton; aunts, Tamara Humphrey, Kimberly Stapleton, and Aunt Cathy Green. He also leaves behind countless cousins, friends, and colleagues who will never forget the fun and laughter he brought, who he was, and the impact he had on their lives. 

A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Friday, August 9, 2024 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 1710 E. Green Drive, High Point, North Carolina.  The family will receive visitors and friends at the church on Friday from 11:30am to 12 noon.  The funeral will begin at noon.  Interment will take place at GuilRand Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors.
