Ronald Jones Obituary

A life lived on the principles of freedom, democracy and faith. Ronald Eugene Jones was our brother, our uncle and our friend.

Ronald Eugene Jones was born to the late Zola Brown McCullough and Ralph Jones on December 7th, 1960 in High Point, North Carolina. He enjoyed being the youngest of his siblings and appreciated the perks of being spoiled and the “baby”.

Ronald attended High Point City Schools and graduated from High Point Central High School, Class of 1979. He continued his education at Appalachian State University.  He took pride in his status as a Central “Bison” and Appalachian State “Mountaineer”. Ronald began his career in the grocery industry at Food World later known as Harris Teeter, where he became a department head.  He later continued his professional life at other grocery chains for many years.   Before retiring, he worked as a supervisor for Dai Nippon Printing in Concord, NC.

A man of deep faith, Ronald was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and attended church in High Point and Concord, NC.  He appreciated many of the great hymns of the church including “Amazing Grace” and “It is Well with My Soul.”

“Satchie” as he was affectionately known by his family, loved to travel and had a passion for old movie classics like “Star Wars” and “The Godfather.”  Satchie loved classical music and was a bona fide Trekkie. He was also an ardent sports fan, who cheered passionately for Duke University basketball and the Dallas Cowboys. His competitiveness was at its highest during a spirited game of Monopoly, which he relished teaching his nieces and nephews–never showing any mercy.  His witty quips and political sentiments were legendary.  Ronald was an unapologetic Republican.  He often proudly referred to himself as a "Cheap Republican” and a ‘Dyed-in-the-Wool Conservative” who loved engaging in political discourse,  and discussions about history,  and civilizations and eating a great cut of steak.

Ronald Eugene Jones passed away on October 9th, 2024.   Ronald was preceded in death by his brothers Jerry Max Brown and Johnny Lomax Brown, his sister-in-law Beverly Brown, and two nephews David Phifer and Andrew Brown.  Ronald is survived by his sisters, Cornelia Phifer (Ronald) of Riverside, CA, Dorothy Lawson (Eugene), Sylvia Hudson, and Rhonda McIntosh, all of High Point, NC, and his sister-in-law Angela Brown (Johnny) of Baltimore, MD.  Adoration for Satchie will remain in the hearts of his nieces and nephews, Adrienne Phifer, Bernita Brown, Ronald Phifer Jr., Maria Spencer Karim, Jonathan Nazeer, Cleopatra Spencer, Natrina Jones, Kenneth Spencer Jr., Nathaniel Jones, Jeffrey Brown, Erica Jones Wright, Ashley Jones, Jerry Brown,  great nieces and nephews, Timothy Clowney, La’Porchia Clowney, Jalisa Smith, Khyree Jones, Kaylei Prevard, Cidney Spencer, Alia Phifer, Justin Nazeer, Kieren Gidderon, Denajee McCoy, Aubri Spencer, Kenneth Spencer III, Tevin Murphy, Chris Nazeer, Jayden Brown, Hanna Nazeer, Christina Covington, Kynnedi Rainey, Ken’Asia Covington, Brooklyn Rainey, Victoria Spencer, great-great nieces and nephews, Destani Johnson, Iyanna Johnson, Jordan Leach, Wisdom Leach, Emmanuel White, Angel Leach, Zaria Artis, Alonzo Clowney, Autumn Clowney, Karson Jones, ZiAnne Prevard, Kailar Jones, Illyana Smith, John Spencer.  His memory is also cherished by his best friend since childhood, Terry Hunt.

He will be remembered as a man whose generosity knew no bounds and was never short of giving his time and his love to his family and friends.
