Robert Lewis Burton, 67, transitioned on Friday, May 10, 2019 following an extended illness. He was born in Guilford County to Barbara Duff and Calvin Johnson on November 29, 1951.
Robert was a caring resident of High Point, but spent most of his adulthood in the Stokesdale and Winston-Salem area. He was a graduate of Northwest High School in Oak Ridge. Everyone knew him as a big guy who would do anything for a friend. He was kindhearted man and loved spending time with family and friends. He held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. Robert was also known for his work as a fine painter.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Burton; step-father, Theodis Duff Sr.; sister, Patsy Ann Johnson and seven brothers.
He leaves behind to cherish fond memories two sons, Robert Burton Jr. of West Virginia, and Jonathan Howard of Greensboro; 11 grandchildren, Robert L. Burton, III, Anfernee T. Burton, Davonte M. Paynter, Jordan S. Burton, of West Virginia and Angel A. Covington of Virginia, Jaleecya Howard, and Deamonte Howard of Charlotte, Nazjon Howard of Burlington, Saryniti Howard, Ashton Howard, and Genesis Howard of Greensboro; 3 brothers, Jerry Burton of High Point, Theodis Duff Jr. of Greensboro, and Mark Duff of High Point; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends, including close friend, Pete McKinney.
A funeral service will be held at 2p.m. on Saturday, May 18th, at New Beginnings Full Gospel Ministries, 215 Fourth St., High Point. Family visitation will be 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the church. Johnson and Sons Funeral Home is assisting the family.
