Rivers Virginia Gathewright

Mrs. Rivers Virginia Gathewright, 96, departed this earthly life on Monday May 19, 2025, in Manhattan, New York. She was born on October 2, 1928, to the late Robert Spencer Robertson, Sr. and Rivers B. Robertson.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Robertson; one sister, six brothers and two great great-grandchildren, Jayanna and Jayda.

She was employed in domestic services, where she provided support with household tasks and maintained a welcoming environment for families. During her leisure, she found great joy in challenging herself with word puzzles, often spending hours immersed in the intricate world of crosswords and word searches

She leaves to cherish memories of her: one daughter, Betsy Pinkard; six grandchildren, Tony Robertson, Dwayne Gathewright, Taniesha Robertson, Shanelle Pinkard, Larie Pinkard and Kenny Pinkard; a special niece, Annie Lee of Reidsville, NC; eighteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
