Rickey Charles Burns

Rickey Charles Burns went to be with his savior on July 1, 2026 after a brief illness. He graduated from High Point Central, well known for his championships and acknowledged for his awards in wrestling, which he loved dearly. His last employment was at Mother Murphy’s in Greensboro as a lead mixer, as well as Henry Don Furniture in High Point, NC as a frame builder. 

Rickey leaves behind memories of the love of his life, Mary Napper, and his children, Shakeda Burns, Rickey (Mantrell) Burns, Laquita Burns and Laqonda Hope, as well as, Robert Napper, Ventra Young, and Jimmy Young, who he called his own. Rickey was a loving and caring husband, father and friend, never meeting a stranger.

Preceded in death by his father, Roy Burns and his brother, Tim Burns. He is survived by his mother, Helen Burns, his brother, Edward Burns, his sister, Cathy Burns, and her husband Kenny, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as his beloved grandchildren and honorable friends.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Johnson and Sons, as well as family and friends through these unbearable times.

A funeral service honoring the life of Rickey Burns will be given on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at the chapel of Johnson and Sons, 206 Fourth Street, High Point.  The family will receive visitors and friends from 10:30 am to 11am at the chapel. The service will begin at 11am.  A burial will follow at GuilRand Memorial Park Cemetery.
