Patricia Townsend Obituary

Patricia G. Townsend transitioned to her heavenly home on Thursday, March 19, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family at High Point Regional Medical Center.  Patricia who was a High Point native was born to Roscoe Arthur Gilmore, Sr. and Minnie Bell Taylor Gilmore.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Townsend and a brother, Mr. Roscoe Gilmore Jr.

"Pat was well known for her unwavering beautiful voice and her commitment to her church. She lived a good life and departed this earth too soon. Her life was filled with laughter and she would love to go to choir rehearsal no matter how bad she was feeling. She had to go and get those sopranos on the right note. She was a widow and had one child of this union. She was always focused on her total surrender to God's will. The family will always remember her sweet high pitch voice.  Pat will be missed by all, but I can see her now walking around Heaven singing like a songbird."  She was a very dedicated church member of Memorial United Church where she belonged to all the choirs.

She attended The William Penn High School where she graduated and began working at Royals Incorporated. After they closed she wanted to go back to school to learn about the medical field and became a Nursing Secretary. She began working at High Point Regional Behavioral Health System.

She is survived by one daughter, LaShaunya Townsend; two sisters, Alicia Gathings and Rosalind Gilmore; a niece, Alisa Gilmore and a nephew, Louis Gilmore; great niece, Ashley Little and two great nephews, Gerald Gipson and Nicholas Gipson; two special friends of the family, John Wilson and Mary Miller;  a host of other relatives, cousins and friends.

A Service Celebrating the Life of our beloved, will take place on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Memorial United Methodist Church, 1327 Cedrow Drive, High Point.  The family will receive visitors at the church from 11:30am to 12 noon.  The service will began at 12 noon.  A Burial will follow at Floral Gardens Memorial Park, High Point.  LaShaunya will also received friends at her residence.
