Odelle "Odessa" (Redfearn) Zimmerman

Mrs. Odelle Zimmerman entered into this world on February 14, 1938 in Chesterfield, South Carolina to Jay and Lottie Mae Redfearn.  She departed this life on March 7, 2020.  She was 82 years old.

Odelle accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Greater New Hope Baptist Church.  For her lifelong commitment and faithfulness she was inducted as a Living Legend Honoree of Greater New Hope Baptist Church on May 7, 2017.  Odelle was educated in the Chesterfield, South Carolina County School system.  She was formerly employed by Leggett & Platt for over 25 years before retiring in 2006.  She showed her love to her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, C. L. Redfearn, and a sister, Ruby Mae Watson.

She leaves to cherish fond memories a daughter, Bernice Lewis (John) of High Point, NC; two grandchildren, Jacarra Lewis of High Point, and Corrie Thompson (Kristina) of Kernersville, NC; four great grandchildren; five sisters, Lottie Gainey of New York, NY, Carolyn Zinnerman of Ruby, SC, Floretha Redfearn of CA, Shirley R. Clark of Washington, DC, and Willie Mae Watts of Chesterfield, SC; two brothers, L.J. Redfearn (Annette) of Chesterfield, SC, Wiley Redfearn of Ruby, SC; a sister-in-law, Christine Redfearn of Chesterfield, SC; a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that include two special friends, Rebecca Mack and Lorraine Burns.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Greater New Hope Baptist Church, 906 Meredith Street, High Point, NC. Service at 12:00 Noon, visitation 11:30am. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park, Greensboro, NC.  The family will receive friends at 3638 Westfield St., High Point, NC. Public viewing on Friday from 12 noon until 7:00pm.at Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 206 Fourth Street, High Point, NC.
