O'Neal Scales Obituary

Eden - Mr. O'Neal Scales, 89, departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Hospice of Rockingham County.

Born on June 28, 1931 in Rockingham County, North Carolina, he was the offspring of the late Mary Broadnax Scales and Sam Lee Scales. O' Neal attended the public schools in Leaksville, NC. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force and served his country for over 20 years until his retirement on July 1, 1970. While serving he earned many awards and medals.

In addition to his parents, a beloved wife, Ophelia Keen Scales preceded him in death.

O'Neal leaves to cherish his memory: sisters, Joan Moton, Mary (Pete) Millner, Yvonne Wilson , and Gwen (Gust) Lanza; brother, Sherman (Julia) Scales; special granddaughter, Tara Boyd whom he loved and cherished dearly; other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Eden Gardens Cemetery, Eden, NC. followed by full Military rites. Funeral arrangements are by Johnson & Sons.
