Nancy Roberta (Sanders) Smith

Mrs. Nancy Smith transitioned to her heavenly home on Friday, December 13, 2019 at Beacon Place, Greensboro, surrounded by loved ones.

Nancy was born on July 16, 1942 to TJ Sanders, Sr. and Roberta Burnside Sanders in Davidson County, North Carolina. A faithful member of Central United Methodist Church, she loved singing on the church choir.  Following many years of laboring, she retired from High Point Regional Hospital as an Administrator.  A proud mother and giving grandmother, she was a pillar of strength to all who knew her.  She was best known for the great cooking that she shared with all who walked through the door, but remembering that her husband was served first.  She also enjoyed bowling and TV game shows.  We thank God for her impacting presence in the lives of those who loved her.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; James L. Smith; daughter, Sherita Ellison, her siblings, William "Pee Wee" Sanders, TJ Sanders, Jr., James Junior Sanders, Carvin Sanders, Ruth Sanders Gray, and Carrie Sanders.

Surviving relatives include sons, Michael Sanders, Dwayne Smith, and Cory Smith; grandchildren, Rishaun Joyce, Marquise Joyce, Tyesha Grant, Rayven Blackmon, Tyronda Williams, Ronnie Staton, Damaris Staton,  Candice Staton, and Anthony Staton; seven great grandchildren, Darius, Preston, AJ, Kareiah, Journey, Zaria, and Ma’leizsa; brother-in-law, Jerome Smith; a host of cousins, other relatives and devoted friends.

A Memorial Service will be given 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 21st at Central United Methodist Church, 115 James Avenue, Thomasville.
