Mary Elizabeth Cummings

Mary Elizabeth Cummings departed this life on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, NC.

Mary was born on October 20, 1941, to the late Willie and Nancy Napper Cunningham. She received her education from the Rockingham Count School System. Mary spent most of her younger years helping her family farm and garden. Spiritually, she attended the St. Mariah United Holy Church in Reidsville.

For many years Mary served as a caretaker and companion to many. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting.  As a loving wife and mother, Mary cared dearly for her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Cummings; 6 sisters, and 3 brothers.

Those left to cherish her memories include: her daughter, Margaret Ann Cummings; sons, Michael Wayne Cummings, Perry Waddell Cummings (Tammy), Bobby Lee Cummings (Teresa), Lorenzo Cummings (Josephine), and Cecil Lamont Cummings; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bessie Cunningham, and Bernice Cunningham; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life of service will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 25, 2025 at the chapel of Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 206 Fourth Street, High Point, NC 27260. The family visitation will be Sunday from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the chapel.
