Deacon Major L. Ziglar Sr, the beloved husband of Freda Blackstock-Ziglar, peacefully departed this life on Thursday morning, July 27, 2023
Major was born March 16, 1931, to James W. Ziglar and Hattie Martin Ziglar. He was the youngest of seven; Irene Broadnax, Margie Welch, Gladys Dalton, Lottie Neal, James Ziglar, and Walter Ziglar. All of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Shon Brown.
Major served honorably in the US Army. He worked at Salem Steel for over 30 years, doing a job that he truly enjoyed.
Deacon Ziglar was a kind, gentle man who loved Jesus and didn’t hesitate to talk about Him. He was often asked if he was a preacher, to which he promptly replied, “No, I was called to be a witness!” and THAT he was! Major was most proud that he built his own home, with his own hands under the direction of God. He was an excellent electrician, however not a builder…but Father showed him just what to do. Deacon Ziglar served at different churches over the years. As his health declined, he was unable to physically attend, but never lost his passion for Jesus.
Major is so greatly missed. His time with his wife was somewhat short but it hardly seemed so to them. They were always together, almost never being away from one another, in their years.
Major leaves to celebrate his life, devoted wife; Elder Freda Blackstock-Ziglar, of the home. Children; Rosa Zada, Linda Roopchan, Cynthia Hanna, Major Ziglar Jr, all of Winston Salem, NC; David Ziglar (Angela) of High Point, NC; Barbara Archie of Conyers GA and Donald Ziglar, of Covington, GA.
