Madeline Lindsay Lawson “Nanny” was born on May 6, 1925, to Cora Crutchfield Lindsay and James B. Lindsay. She was the fifth child of eight siblings.
Madeline was a devoted lifelong member of Zion Hill UMC. She served on the usher board, sang in the choir, was a member of the United Methodist Women, and volunteered in many capacities.
Madeline was a dedicated caregiver to her mother, sister, brother and husband. She retired from the UNCG system in 1996. After retirement, she decided to take pottery and sewing classes. She had and adventurous spirit and traveled to Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. She delighted in taking trips with her grandson, Jason.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty years, Russell Thomas Lawson; siblings, Maggie East, Elnora Norris, Gracie Evans, Ida Brown, James B. Lindsay II and Hilda Brown.
Left to cherish loving memories are children, Londay Carr (Mac), Blondean Turman, and Jason Carr; brother, Carl R. Lindsay of Bakersville, CA; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Service will be given on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Zion Hill UMC, Sandy Ridge Rd., Colfax, NC. The family will receive visitors and friends from 11 to 11:30am at the church and the service will begin at 11:30.
