Lenette Harshaw Obituary

Lenette Gaines Harshaw was born December 19, 1942, to the late Walter Gaines and Sarah Harris Gaines in Montgomery County. She made her transition to her heavenly home on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the Graybrier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Archdale, NC.

Lenette Harshaw received her education at Peabody High School in Mt Gilead, NC.  At an early age, she professed Christ as Her Lord and Savior, was baptized at Mountain Grove AME Zion Church.  Upon moving to Randleman, NC, she joined Ferree’s Chapel United Methodist Church and remained faithful until her death.  She served as a member of the Trustee Committee, Usher Board, Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer and President of United Methodist Women, Church Secretary, Superintendent, and faithful member of the choir.    In addition to her church duties, Lenette was an active member of the NAACP. She was employed with Laughlin Hosiery/Commonwealth Hosiery for 35+ years. She enjoyed reading, watching sports, and was a huge supporter of Randleman middle and high school sports and listening to Sam Cooke.  Lastly, she enjoyed taking care of others. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald L. Harshaw; two sisters, Ivey Jean Foddrell and Loretta Little; and one brother, Walter Gaines Jr.

Lenette leaves to cherish her memories, three sons, Donald F. Harshaw of Thomasville NC; O. Payton Harshaw (T.K) of Cary, NC; Torie M. Harshaw, of the home and one daughter, Kimiki Harshaw Williams (Kenneth); one grandson, Kenneth Williams Jr.; one great-granddaughter, Kaliah French of Virginia Beach, VA; three sisters, Blanche Peguese, Susie Lovelace, of High Point, NC and Margie Legrand of Mt. Gilead; two brothers, Herbert Gaines (Geneva) and Burlee Gaines of Mt. Gilead; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Ferree’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 642 S. Stout Street, Randleman, NC. The family visitation will be Friday from 12:15 until 1:00 p.m. at the church. The service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro, NC.  Public viewing will be Thursday, from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. at Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 206 Fourth Street, High Point.
