Layeon Terry

September 26, 1951 ~ September 6, 2023 (age 71) 71 Years Old

Obituary

Layeon Terry was born on September 26, 1951, to Melvin and Lucille Hines Terry in Ellerbe, North Carolina. He was called home to be with the LORD on September 6, 2023.

The family relocated to High Point, in 1955.  Layeon was educated in the Guilford County school system and graduated from Central High School in 1969. Shortly after graduation, Layeon went up to the Washington, DC area to visit his brother, Howard, to see if he wanted to move to that area. After a short span, he decided to come back to High Point.  Upon returning to High Point, he worked for Alderman Studios assisting interior decorators in arranging furniture displays for photos. Eventually, Layeon decided to move to Atlanta, GA where he worked in security, and as a truck driver.  In the late 1990’s, Layeon returned to High Point and completed his career at Marsh Furniture Company as an assembly technician.

Layeon was a fun and carefree guy who loved mathematics and who had an artistic side as well. He was good at drawing. He enjoyed dancing, keeping people laughing at his jokes, watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, his favorite team and other movies and shows on TV.

Layeon is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Lucille Hines Terry; his brother, Allen Terry, and his sister, Doris Duff.

Layeon leaves to cherish fond memories: his loving wife, Patricia Terry; five sisters, Celestine Dickens, Sherlene Hicks, Jerrilene Terry, Wyvonnia Hopkins and Ellen McDuffie; two brothers, Howard Terry and Melvin Levon Terry; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Terry and Monica Terry; a brother-in-law, Thomas Dickens; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends.
