Mr. Lawrence “Duke” Tucker died peacefully on Friday, February 10, 2023 at the Westwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Archdale, N.C. He was born on April 7, 1936 in Ridgeway, South Carolina to the now late Elmore Tucker Jr. and Mary Ann Nelson Tucker.
He was preceded in death by both parents; his first wife Allie Crawford Tucker; two sisters, Annie T. Boyd and Ernestine T. Padgett; one grandson Roderick Crawford.
Lawrence Tucker attended High Point City Schools. He retired from Hayworth Roll and Panel Company. He was on the Deacon Board at Temple Memorial Baptist Church for many years before transferring to New Bethel Baptist Church in High Point. Duke was such a kind and caring person that loved to talk to his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Rachel Whitmore Tucker; five children: John (Marie) Crawford, Annie C. Coleman, Roger (Sherry) Crawford, Donald (Marian) Crawford and Ronald (Betty) Crawford; five stepchildren: Brenda Whitmore, Renee’ Whitmore, Belinda Whitmore, Mina Whitmore and Chris Whitmore; 28 Grandchildren; 36 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandchild; one brother, Julius T. Tucker; one brother-in-law, James Padgett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, February 17, 2023 at the Chapel of Johnson and Sons Funeral Home, 206 Fourth St., High Point. The service will began at 1 0'clock in the afternoon.
