Mrs. Joyce Elaine Miller, 65, of 1713 Oberlin Drive, transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday, September 19, 2020 following an illness.
Joyce was born on October 31, 1954 to the late Clyde Miller and Eva Miller in High Point, NC. She was educated in the public school system and graduated from T. Wingate Andrews High School. She went on to pursue higher education at Brookstone College of Business and graduated with honors. Joyce lived a life of service to her church as a musician. She would often serve her community by feeding the homeless and helping the less fortunate. She was employed by Guilford County School system as a teacher assistant and data manager and later retired after 30 years of service. She was a member of First Emmanuel Baptist Church for most of her life but was also closely affiliated with and served at Congregational United Church of Christ.
Mrs. Miller was loved and cherished by many. She was very kind hearted and loved to laugh. She had a very special way of bringing laughter into mostly all situations. She enjoyed spending time with close family and friends. Contributing to and Investing in her grandchildren became one of her greatest joys.
Joyce was preceded in death by her mother, Eva Kennedy Miller and father, Clyde William Miller, Jr. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.
She leaves to cherish fond memories, her husband of 20 years, Jerry Atkins of High Point; one son, Sean Miller (Tania) of Covington, GA.; one sister Tammy (Norman) Rogers of High Point; three nieces, Tiffany (Chris) Gibson (raised as a daughter), Tameka (Eric) Littlejohn, Sherri (Kenyon) Miller, all of High Point; five grandchildren, Kyree Miller, Kaeden Miller, Samiyah Chance, Kirstyn Gibson, and CJ Gibson; one great-niece LaDeja Miller, one great-nephew Maleek Littlejohn, and one great-great niece Nyla Miller; She also leaves behind a host of close family and friends; some in particular would be Clarice (sis), Vonda & Renee’ Kennedy, Becky Branch, The Warburton Family, and The Wilson Family.
A private Graveside Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Carolina Biblical Gardens, Jamestown, North Carolina.
