Mr. John William Tate, Jr. departed his life on October 20, 2024, in High Point, NC. He was born to the late John and Erma Tate on September 17, 1951, in Thomasville, NC.
After graduating from Thomasville Senior High School, Mr. Tate enlisted in the U.S. Army, dedicating himself to serving his country with honors. He worked as a cook for many years at Biscuitville in Thomasville, NC, and Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, GA.
From a young age, Mr. Tate joined the Friendship Baptist Church, where he discovered his passion for music. He was an accomplished musician who enjoyed singing and playing the guitar, keyboard, and piano. Beyond his musical talents, Mr. Tate cherished the bonds he built with family and friends. He relished every moment spent together that filled their lives with laughter and love, leaving behind a lasting legacy-one marked by unforgettable memories that continue to resonate with those who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Takisha Drayton, and sister, Joanne Reed.
He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia (Timothy) Rogers and Tarjar Sinclair of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Ora Mae Falls of Lawrenceville, GA and Christine Hoey of Shelby, NC; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, located at 106 Smith Street, Thomasville, NC. The family will welcome visitors and friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will start at 2:00 p.m., followed by a burial at GuiRand Memorial Park.
