Gloria Manning Obituary

Mrs. Gloria Archie Manning passed on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Wellington Oaks Memory Care, Greensboro, NC.  Gloria was born on March 12, 1950, in Rock Hill, SC to the late Lilen Archie and Rosalie Jordan Archie.  She was the eldest of ten siblings and was preceded in death by three brothers, Terry Archie, Johnny Archie, and Kenneth Archie.

Gloria was raised in High Point where she attended local schools and was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church.  She later joined Williams Memorial CME Church.

Gloria had a special gift for cooking and found great joy in preparing meals for others.  Whether it was for family gatherings or simply to brighten someone’s day, her kitchen was a place of love, comfort and fellowship.  She also provided a “smile” or a “nip” if you needed one.

She was known for her no-nonsense demeanor yet nurturing spirit.  Gloria extended love and care to many beyond her immediate family.  She had a heart that welcomed everyone, making others feel seen, valued and at home in her presence.  Whether through a kind word, a listening ear or a helping hand, she gave without hesitation.  She found great joy in talking, dancing, playing Bingo and caring for others, often putting their needs before her own.  Her generosity touched countless lives, leaving lasting impressions on all who were blessed to know her.

Gloria is survived by her loving husband, James H. Manning of Dillon, SC.  She was blessed with a loving family of four children; two daughters, Tina Brockington (Prentiss) and Lisa Manning; twin sons, Jerrick Manning and Derrick Manning all of High Point; four sisters, Gale Virgil (Walter) of Raeford, NC, Robin McIntyre (John) of High Point, Phillis Brinson (Tim) of Thomasville, and Beverly Archie Kearny of Newark, NJ; two brothers, Christopher Archie of High Point and Freddie Archie of Newark, NJ.  She was a proud grandmother to a host of grandchildren, great grands, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends; a special granddaughter that she raised as her own, Arlisa “Moochie” Richardson.

Gloria’s legacy of love, strength and compassion will forever live in the hearts of all that knew and loved her.

A Service Celebrating the Life of Gloria Archie Manning will take place on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Williams Memorial CME Church, 3400 Triangle Lake Road, High Point, NC.  The family will receive visitors and friends at the church from 12 noon to 12:30pm.  The service will begin at 12:30pm.
