Gladys Watson Obituary

Gladys Lee Watson, age 89, of High Point, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 2nd, 2024, at her residence. Gladys was born on June 16th, 1935, in High Point, N.C., to Fletcher Warren and Thelma (Scott) Warren.  She had one older sister, the late Virginia M. Alexander, also of High Point. Gladys was a 1954 graduate of William Penn High School.

In 1955, Gladys married and became a beloved mother to one child, Gayle Denise (Bullock) Randall of Woodstock, Georgia in 1957. In later years, she married William R. “Bill” Watson, and happily shared life together until his death in November, 2010.

Gladys and family moved to Riverhead, Long Island, New York in 1959. She lived and worked there for nine years, and moved back to her hometown in 1968. Upon returning to High Point, Gladys began working for the Pilot Life Insurance Company - Prudential Insurance Company, as a claims representative. She loved her work and served proudly until she retired there after 30 years of service.

Family was always Gladys’ top priority. She took excellent care of her ailing mother and husband. Gladys and her sister, Virginia, shared a special bond that was unbreakable. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of shopping with her daughter, having family dinners, laughing with her special niece, Faye, and watching and adoring her grand-nephew, Jarian, and grandson, Tri grow into fine young men.  She shared a witty and warm relationship with her brother-in-law, Bobby, her son-in-law, Randy, and her nephew, Jimmy Jay. Gladys also loved her church and remained loyal even when she was no longer physically able to attend.

Gladys was preceded in death by her father, Fletcher Warren; mother, Thelma A. Warren; husband, William R. Watson; sister, Virginia M. Alexander; brother-in-law, Robert Alexander; and sister-in-law, Patricia Williams.

Survivors left with loving memories include: Gladys’ daughter, Gayle D. “Niscie” Randall; son-in-law, Morris “Randy” Randall, Jr.; grandson, Morris “Tri” Randall, III.; four nieces, Jasmine Warren, Sherree Love, Melanee Duff, and Donna Coston; three nephews, Jimmy (Debby), Jonathan and Douglas Williams; grand nephew, Jarian Warren (Shonda); five first cousins, Iva Flynt, Bobby Washington, Juraee McNeil (Edward), Darlene Scott, Rex Scott and a host of other truly special relatives and close cherished friends.
