George Martin Obituary

Elder George Isaac Martin, affectionately known as “Skip” was born on February 3, 1949, to the late Daniel and Lula Mae Ross Martin in Summerfield, North Carolina. He peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on October 30, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and love.

Elder Isaac received his early education at Laughlin High School in Summerfield, North Carolina, and later attended and graduated from Northwest Guilford High School. He continued his education at Piedmont Community College, where he earned a diploma in Welding and Small Engine Repair. In addition to his formal training, he was also a skilled brick mason and concrete finisher.

In May of 1976, Elder Isaac married the love of his life, Mary Lee Jackson, and to this blessed union two children were born — George Isaac Martin, Jr. (affectionately known as “Snipper”) and Quentin Martin.  In 1968, Elder Isaac enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly and honorably served his country, including as a medic during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he began a long and dedicated career with the City of Charlotte, where he was employed for 40 years.

Elder Isaac’s life was marked by unwavering dedication to God and compassion for others. He was selfless, devoted, and deeply committed to the work of the ministry. His passion for the youth and his heart for mentoring young people led him to serve as Youth Pastor at the Church of the Living God in Kernersville, North Carolina, during the mid-1980s. His leadership and spiritual guidance inspired many to grow in their faith.  His commitment and service to the church extended beyond the local assembly, as he later served as the National Y.P.U. Superintendent for the Church of the Living God organization. In 2018, he accepted the sacred call to serve as Pastor of the Church of the Living God in Kernersville, where he faithfully led, preached, taught and served the people of God until his transition.

Elder Isaac was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Daniel and Lula Mae Martin; his son, George Isaac Martin, Jr.; his sister, Deborah Martin; and his brothers, Wesley Martin and Bishop Fidel Martin.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted wife of 49 years, Mary Lee Jackson Martin; his son Quentin Martin; daughter-in-law Aisha Canty; granddaughter, Janae Canty; his brother Apostle Clayton Dean (Jeronica) Martin of Jacksonville, FL; his sister, Althea Shirri (Parish) Kilgore of Kernersville, NC; sisters-in-law Daisy (Milton) Head, Gladys Brown, and Rebecca Martin; brothers-in-law Lewis Wayne Jackson and Paul Clark; along with his church family, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Elder George Isaac Martin’s life was one of faith, integrity, and service. He was a loving husband, devoted father, faithful shepherd, and humble servant of God. His legacy will continue to live on through the lives he touched and the seeds of faith he planted in so many.

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant… enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” –
Matthew 25:21
