George Herman "Stroker" Davis was born on October 30, 1937, in Bethania, North Carolina. He departed this life on April 24, 2024, in Reidsville, North Carolina. George was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and John Roseboro; his biological father, Joe Barber Rice; his son, George Herman Davis, Jr.; his daughter, Veronica Lynn Harvey Wright; grand-daughter, Teresa L. Henderson; siblings, Joseph Tillman, Herb Wolf, Regina (Jean) Nash, Barbara Rice, and Gary Rice.
George served a short time in the U.S. Army. He worked and retired from Waste Management Pa.. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved riding his motorcycles, hunting, and fishing. He became a member of the Cycle Kings Motorcycle Club in Trenton in 1985 and was one of the club's oldest riding members.
George was also a master crappie fisherman. It didn't matter who went with him fishing. He always out fished them. He was affectionately called "Crappie Pappy" by his daughter. In the most recent years, playing checkers had become his favorite pastime.
He was not a man of many words, nor did he show much affection, but one way he showed his love and concern was by popping up unannounced to visit family and friends all over the country.
George is survived by his wife of 26 years, LaTonya Davis; seven children, Ron Deshield of Stone Mountain, GA; Diana Miles of Hamilton, NJ; Jeffrey Shaw (Mary Lou) of Easton, PA; Delano (Lonnie) Davis and Calvin (Donnie) Davis both of High Point, NC; Deirdre (Robert) Hill of Rural Hall, NC and Michael (Yvonne) Wingate of Winston-Salem, NC; brother, Steve Rice of Philadelphia, Penn; sister, Elaine Evans of Atlanta, Georgia: twenty grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; five step-children, Daniel Inman and Kevin (Carla) McLaurin both of Willingboro, NJ; Amin Inman of Trenton, NJ; Tara Totten Davis of Greensboro, NC and Nicole Totten of Reidsville, NC; eight step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a very special friend, Kent Rierson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.
