Etta Dovie (Belo) Rush

Mrs. Etta Dovie Belo Rush, 96, transitioned to her heavenly reward on Thursday, July 11, 2019 in Thomasville, North Carolina.

Dovie, as most knew her, was born on June 2, 1923 to Flora Moffitt Belo and Edward Belo in Randolph County.  She spent most of her life in the Trinity/High Point area and was a devoted member of the Bethel United Methodist Church where she faithfully served the Lord and her community.  She loved to cook and was known for her potato salad, her persimmon pudding, and the chow chow that she gave as Christmas presents.  She also enjoyed decorating and family gatherings. Dovie often put her siblings before herself; always keeping a check on them.  She worked with and cared for the Hiatt and Bouldin family for over 75 years who became a part of her own.   

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hardin Rush; sisters, Nina, Bessie, Annie Ruth, Ophelia, Pauline, and Juanita; brothers, Edward, Ray, and William, along with 2 siblings who passed at a young age.

Surviving relatives include a loving daughter, Carolyn Rush;, granddaughter, Cassandra Merwin (Douglas); sister, Hilda Rector (Roy); brother Winfred Belo; Emily Hiatt, who she considered a daughter; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be at 11:30a.m. on Thursday, July 18th, at Bethel United Methodist Church, 3229 Old Glenola Rd, Archdale, NC.  Family will receive visitors and friends from 11 to 11:30a.m. at the church.
