Emma Jean Hill Lowery was born on December 28, 1931 to the now late Thomas O. Hill and Emma Jean Jones Hill. She made her transition to everlasting life on September 9, 2023 at Greenhaven Health and Rehabilitation Center in Greensboro, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving son, Marshall M. Lowery; three sisters, Mary Lou Jefferson, Rosa Lee Simrel and Zula Woodfolk; brothers-in-law, Kermit O. Simrel and John Woodfolk.
Emma lived in Charlottesville, VA for 13 years, returning to High Point in 1960. For many years she was employed by the Marshall family, and they have always maintained a very special devotion to each other.
She attended William Penn High School; additionally, she was a faithful member of Memorial United Methodist Church, where she served as a steward and as a member of the United Methodist Women until her health declined.
Emma leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and devoted friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Greenhaven Health and Rehabilitation Center and to the staff at Cardinal Hospice Care. Their care and kindness have been a source of inspiration and comfort, which serves as a reminder of the power of love and compassion. We are truly grateful for their unwavering dedication and support.
A graveside service will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Guil-Rand Memorial Park Cemetery, 1550 HWY 62, High Point, NC.
