Mrs. Emma Smith Bennett, daughter of the now late John and Glennie B. Smith, was born July 25,1936, in Anson County, North Carolina. She transitioned to her heavenly home on September 25, 2021 in High Point, North Carolina.
In 1956, she was united in marriage to Charles Bennett, Sr. Upon this union, six children were born. As a young adult, Emma moved to High Point, NC where she resided for the duration of her life. During that time, she became a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully for over forty years. She served as a missionary, a church mother, and a senior choir member. Her love for the Lord was the driving force behind her active participation in all the churches functions and activities.
Emma was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved spending time with her family and always had a smile on her face. She worked as a caregiver to the Dillingham family for over forty years. “To know her was to love her”.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bennett, Sr., her son, Elliot Smith, and eleven siblings.
She leaves to cherish loving memories: two sons, Charles Bennett Jr., and Darryl Bennett, Sr. (Maria); four daughters, Ginger McCall, Teresa Bennett, Patricia Bennett (Steve), and Toni Bennett; fourteen grandchildren, their spouses, seventeen great-grandchildren; her best friend, Bonnie Ramseur; her extended family, Judy, Amy, and Josh Dillingham; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
