Reidsville - Elder Mary K. Thomas, affectionately known as “Cat,” peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, ascending to a place of eternal rest and peace. She was born on December 20, 1953, to Sarah Elizabeth Keesee and the late Albert Washington Fountain.
She was a native of Rockingham County, North Carolina, attended the local public schools, and was a graduate of Reidsville Senior High School, Class of 1972. She also furthered her studies and earned additional degrees.
From a young age, she was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church, Mount Herman Church, and M&L Memorial Faith Tabernacle. Her strong faith and dedication eventually led her to make Trinity Holy Tabernacle her home church, where she served as a Youth Minister, Sunday School Teacher, and Secretary. She also served as a member of the missionary Department, adult choir, pastor aide, and kitchen committee. She was a dedicated member of the city-wide choir and the Reidsville Senior Citizen Club. Her unwavering commitment and valuable contributions to the church community were truly remarkable, and we are so grateful for her dedication.
For 20 years, she worked as a therapeutic parent before transitioning to the family care business, where she worked for 25 years.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sibling, Laverne Fountain.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, Tilman Thomas Jr.; mother, Sarah Elizabeth Keesee; sons, Randolph Keesee, Sr., and Tillman Thomas; grandchildren, Tiarra Keesee, Randolph Keesee, Jr., (Brianna) and LaRandi Johnson; one great-grandchild, Nova Keesee; sisters, Brenda Keesee of California, Margaretta Fountain (Jerry) and Annisa Wright of Reidsville, NC, Edna Hairston of Burlington, NC, and Gloria McLaughton of Danville, VA; brothers, Micheal Keesee, Allen Fountain, Gary Fountain (Gegirtha), and John Fountain all of Reidsville, NC; Anderson Wright (Gwen) of Virginia Beach, aunts, Judy Hairston, Barbara Herring, Evelyn Garland, all of Eden, NC and Estelle (Jimmy) Wimbush of Reidsville, NC; uncles, Calvin Nicholson (Mae), John Brewer (Bonita), and Cecil Brewer of Connecticut, Sinclair Brewer and Mark Brewer of Wisconsin, Chester Fountain and Kenny Fountain of Reidsville, NC, and James (Carolyn) Fountain of Eden, NC; great uncle, Adolphus Keesee of Reidsville, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
