Eddie was born June 30, 1954, in Hartwell, Georgia to the late Jasper Craft and Sallie Mae Alexander Craft. Eddie was affectionately nicknamed "Black" by his friends during their teen years, which has followed him over the years.
Eddie's heart was genuine to everyone that he considered family and friends. He had a big heart and would give anyone the shirt off his back. In addition to his big heart, he also had a huge personality. Whenever he entered a room, he would announce his entrance with a voice as loud as thunder. His wit and humor would have you cracking your sides. Two of his favorite past times were cooking and playing spades.
In addition to his parents, a sister, Nina Mae Craft Carter preceded him in death.
Eddie leaves to cherish his memory one child, his son, Corey Gilmer of High Point, NC; two sisters, Mary Southern of Davenport, Iowa and Twanna Craft of High Point, NC; two brothers, David Craft and Robert (Louise) Craft, both of High Point, NC; six nieces, Mercedes Southern, Tasha Johnson (Brian) Binns, Danielle Craft, Latoya Craft, Kimberly (Teon) Tate, and Monica (Marlon) Washington; six nephews, James "Jimmy" Southern, Robert Craft, Jr., Jimmy Craft, Anthony Craft, Rodney (Patricia) Craft, Brad Craft; three aunts, Barbara Gibson, Mary (Hubert) Gibson, Lurie Blackwell and a host of cousins and friends.
