Dwight Eaddy, Sr. Obituary

On Thursday, June 26, 2025, Jesus called Dwight Edward Eaddy home to rest in peace. He expressed to his family that he was ready to go with Jesus. Dwight was 88 years old. He was born on September 9, 1936, to the late Hampton and Fannie D. Eaddy in Johnsonville, SC. Dwight was the youngest of six siblings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sons, John John Eaddy and Harold Greene (survived by Edith) of Virginia, and Allen Greene (survived by Wilma) of Goldsboro, NC. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Mary McCown and Odessa Taylor, and his brothers, Isaac Eaddy, McCoy Eaddy, and Rev. Moses Eaddy.

Dwight was a member of Meeting Room Baptist Church in Thomasville, NC, where he was under the spiritual leadership of Rev. Thomas Bosier. He served as a trustee, earned the affectionate title of "father of the church", and was head of the Kitchen Committee. Dwight worked for 30 years as a boiler engineer at Thomasville Furniture Industries. His life was a testament to service, both in his church and in his profession.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife of 21 years Mary M. Eaddy of the home; daughter, Cheryl Eaddy of Greensboro, NC; sons, Terry (Priscilla) Greene of Charlotte, NC; Dwight Eaddy, Jr., of Thomasville, NC; stepchildren, Monique (Greg) Powell of New Jersey; Angela (Tony) Key of Maryland; Jason (Katha) Brown of Boston, Mass.; sisters-in-law, Mary C. Eaddy of Thomasville, NC; Eva Dukes of GA; and Hazel Wright of Thomasville, NC; brothers-in-law, Jeff (France) Cockrane of Mint Hill, NC, and Paul (Diane) Cockrane of Welcome, NC; a host of grandchildren, great grand-children, nieces, nephews, and a special nephew, Willie B. Eaddy of Pennsylvania and a lifelong friend, Paulene Cook of South Carolina. God bless you, your battle was well won, my husband.

My husband, your love for Jesus and His Word, it’s amazing how you kept so quiet about all the pain you endured, never complaining. My husband, enjoy yourself with Jesus in heaven until we meet again. Rest in peace, my love. Your Wife.
