Dorothy Lee "Dot" Capel
Obituary
Dorothy Lee Capel departed this life on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. Dorothy known to many as “Dot” was born on November 14, 1934 in Ellerbe, North Carolina as the only child to Leaddie Mae Capel Poe and loving stepfather, Alexander “Bubba” Poe.
She was a resident of High Point in excess of fifty years. Ms. Capel was employed at Hayworth Roll and Panel Co., Ritch Face Veneer, and in her latter working years, with High Point Central High School as a cafeteria worker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several dear family members. Her mom, Leaddie Mae was the eldest of seventeen children. Therefore, Dot’s cherished aunts and uncles were more like siblings.
Surviving relatives include her two precious aunts, Bertha Moore, of Brooklyn, New York and Hedy C. Saulter of High Point, her caretaker for many years with whom she referred to as “Hed” or “Ma”, a host of cousins, other relatives and friends
A Homegoing Celebration will take place at the Chapel of Johnson and Sons Funeral Home, 206 Fourth Street, High Point, NC on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. The Chapel service will began at 11 0'clock am with Minister James Parker. Public viewing will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1 to 7pm.
