Dorothy “Dot” Blair was born on August 8, 1922. She was born Dorothy Williams, the only child to the late Mr. and Mrs. Williams of Lawndale, North Carolina.
During her childhood years she attended school in Lawndale, where she was born and grew up. After high school Dorothy moved to Baltimore, MD. She got a job working in a hotel. She and a friend took a short trip to High Point, NC, where she got a job offer and decided to stay.
Dorothy met Robert Lee Blair, a barber, who worked down the street from where she lived on Fairview Street. She and Robert Lee later wed. They lived on Fairview Street for several years before moving to their home at 1318 Boundary St. where they settled.
Dot and Robert Lee enjoyed vacationing and spending time with family, friends, and their church family. They were married for 50 years. She was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church where she served as an usher and volunteered working in the other areas of the church. Dorothy worked as a home care worker for over 30 years.
Her pound and coconut cakes were delicious. Overall, Dot was a great cook.
In the last few years she enjoyed traveling to Lawndale to attend Douglas High School reunions with her primary caretaker and friend, Sherwood and her cousin, Janice.
Dorothy was a loving wife and enjoyed life to the fullest. In recent months her health had began to fail. While at home at age 98 years old she went to be with the Lord.
Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee. She leaves behind to cherish loving memories her stepsons, Barney Errol (Ann) Blair of Lake Elsinore, CA, and Robert Lee Blair, Jr. of Henderson, NV; grandchildren, Angelique L. Blair, Nikkita D. Blair, and Robert L. Blair, III all of Los Angeles, CA; many loving cousins, and a host of friends.
