Donnie Wilson Turner

Ruffin, NC - Donnie Wilson Turner departed this life on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at the Anara Compassionate Care Hospice in Wentworth, NC. As a native and lifelong resident of Caswell County, North Carolina, he was born on September 9, 1948, to the late Eddie Turner and Annie Mae Graves Turner.  

“Wilson” as he was affectionately called was a former employee of John Smith & Sons Construction. He enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren, which he had a nickname for each one. He also loved to watch Gunsmoke, The Andy Griffith Show and Fox 8 News.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Myrtle O. Corbett, Margrata Watlington, and Frances Hairston; his brothers, Abraham, June, David, and JT Turner; and grandson, Christopher Douglas DeJournette.

Survivors are: long term companion, Diane DeJournette of the home; sons, Douglas and Dwayne DeJournette (Loretta) of Ruffin, NC; daughters, Diana D. Herbin of Reidsville, NC, and Cynthia DeJournette of Pelham, NC; Brother, William Turner (Sharron) of Eden, NC; sister, Autrice Hampton of Garner, NC; Grandchildren, Ashley DeJournette (Tony), Shanice DeJournette, James Williams, Tyesha P. Lyons (Tino), Shyanne Wilson, Myesha DeJournette, Travis Price, Jr., and Calvin DeJournette; 9 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A service honoring his life will take place at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Cornerstone Christian Center, 516 North Scales Street, Reidsville, NC. The family will receive visitors and friends at the church on Saturday from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Yanceyville, NC. There will be a public viewing at Cornerstone Christian Center on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
