The Life of Demetrius Treyvon Pass
"There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love."
Demetrius “Meaty” was born to Setedra Pass on March 30, 1999 in Reidsville, NC. Demetrius was a very curious baby, child, teenager, and man. His curiosity would lead him on search that would uncover who he was and where he would go throughout his life. Demetrius was loved by his village.
Wednesday, May 29, 2024. Demetrius, with his ear towards Heaven and feeling free to go from a life of labor to reward entered into eternal rest at Highland Hospital in Oakland, California. Demetrius was met at the gates by his grandparents George and Erva Pass, Johnny and Mae Blackstock and other relatives and friends.
Demetrius was educated in Philadelphia Public Schools prior to relocating to Reidsville, NC. Demetrius was a 2017 graduate of Reidsville High School.
A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly
Demetrius in a search to find his family traveled to Georgia where he connected with his Grandfather Walter Sellars with whom he built a relationship. California where he would work with students who were socially and emotionally disturbed. This was a highlight of his life. He felt a sense of purpose with this work. At the time of his death, he was living in San Francisco, California with friends who were like family. Demetrius never meeting a stranger connected with family and made many friends.
Demetrius living was loved and Demetrius in death is loved. “Meaty” or “2 Drop” as he was affectionally called, was the baby of the group. There will be a void left in the hearts of many because of his untimely demise. Those left to cherish his memory are: Mother Setedra Pass Wharton; Brothers, Andre Neal(Bianca), Ashton Tuttle, Sister; Nikki Crawford; Grandparents, Roberta Murphy, Steven Blackstock(Evonne)and Walter Sellars(Sunceray); Aunts, Ranee Pass, Vanessa Pass, Katina Wimbush; Uncles, Joey Pass and Allen Nash; Special Cousins, Devin Pass, Jakel Pass, Aleah Parker, Torrian Pass and Shaliek Fountain, Sr.; Special Friends/Family, Ida, Kearra, Drew, Keith, Jabari, Elijah and Candy; a host of other relatives and friends.
