Constance Dillard Obituary

Constance “Connie” Delores Dillard gained her wings on Tuesday May 3, 2022 at Cone Memorial Hospital. She was born October 30, 1942 in Reidsville, N.C. to the late Alberta Dillard Hewitt.

Connie graduated from Booker T Washington, where she played basketball and was the score keeper for the baseball team. She loved sports; Duke was her favorite team. Sports were the only thing that commanded her attention more than her family. Soon after graduation Connie moved to New York and resided there for 27 years before returning home to Reidsville.

She was proceeded in death by her mother Alberta Dillard Hewitt, baby sister Sandra England, grandmother Edna Johnson, great grandmother Hattie Tatum, and great aunt Mary Gant.

Connie was a faithful member of Galilee Pentecostal Holiness Church. There she was a member of the missionary circle and a dedicated member of the Sunday school. Connie had such a cheerful spirit who never had a bad day and was never one to complain. She was as gentle as a butterfly floating through spring winds after a fresh rain.

She believed in putting family first. Her son and grandkids were her world until her great grands arrived. Connie never missed a birthday. If you needed a listening ear or words of encouragement, she would make time to assist in your healing. She was the foundation that held everything together.

She leaves to cherish her son Joseph Jones (Melissa), grandchildren Jasmine (Javarius), Joelle (Devante), Janea, and Joseph Jr; 3 great-grandchildren, Nyleia, Naylen, and Raziya; loving aunt, Larinda Blair; siblings Lena Blackwell (Samuel), John Dillard (Mary Ann) Sharron Turner (William) Patricia Settle, Larry Dillard (Nancy), Regina Williamson, Cynthia Dillard (Wayne), Vasceylia Dillard, Lenell Hewitt, Gregory Hewitt (Tammy) adopted sister Gevonda Costner.

Dear Granny Connie,

Thank you. Thank you for your infinite love, thank you for the guidance, thank you for the wisdom, thank you for being you. Nothing in the world could have prepared us for this day, but we know that you are not suffering anymore, the pain is gone. No more weeping through the night. Sis you don’t have to fight anymore, you made it! Although you are no longer physically with us, you will always live through us. You taught us how to be strong, you taught us that on the rainiest of days the sun still shines, you taught us to never give up. We love you, and we got daddy.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from the Galilee Pentecostal Holiness Church, 224 Pennsylvania Avenue.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:30 until 2:00 p.m. at the church.  In every effort to protect our client families, protective facial coverings and social distancing are mandatory requirements.  Funeral arrangements are by Johnson & Sons, High Point, NC.  Live
