Cherie "Ree" Gray-Ellis Obituary

Cherie Gray-Ellis also known as (“Ree”) gained her heavenly wings on April 29, 2023. She was born and raised in Guilford County on June 18, 1980, she was 1 of 3 children of her parents, Ralph and Cathy Gray.

Cherie graduated from Guilford County Schools and went on to further her education at Livingstone College and North Carolina A&T State University.

Cherie was a member of High Point Christian Center where she served as a volunteer for the Family First Food Pantry.

She loved to laugh and tell jokes. She always found a way to make others smile. She devoted her life to her family and always kept a protective eye on each of them, especially her children and her sisters. God blessed Cherie with the gift of laughter and humor. You could not be around her without feeling her contagious joy.

She is survived by her husband, Will “Showdown” Ellis; her parents, Ralph and Cathy Gray; her mother-in-law, Marsha McIver; two sisters, Sanya Gray–Stevenson (Rev. Kenneth Stevenson) and Angel Humphreys. She also leaves behind to cherish her memories, her three children: Chase, Ethan, and Rorie Ellis. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 12:30 PM at High Point Christian Center, 234 Dorthy Street, High Point, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 12:30pm. The burial will take place at Guil-Rand Memorial Park. Public viewing will be on Friday, May 5th from 2 to 7pm at the Chapel of Johnson & Sons.
