Can you hear him? He is not weeping; neither is he crying. He is triumphantly shouting with a jubilant voice!
Can you see him? He is not buried in the sand. He is running and jumping and leaping…for he has seen the exquisite gates of heaven.
The Royal Gates opened for Cecil Mitchell, II on Friday, March 4, 2022. He was the son of the late Cecil Mitchell and late Brenda Faye Worley Mitchell and brother to Troy Mitchell and Abby Mitchell. He was born May 15, 1974 in Montgomery County, PA. He attended public schools in Montgomery County Pennsylvania and graduated from High School in 1993.
Cecil married Catina Antinette Lynch in June 2000 and together they were blessed with one son, Joshua Emmanuel Mitchell on June 30, 2001. The two divorced in 2002 and worked together to raise Joshua. Cecil adored his son, and wanted to give him the world. Cecil loved spending time with Joshua, coaching the Greensboro Panthers and directing the Homeschool Football League (HFL), and his friends.
Cecil received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2000 from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Cecil was a gifted engineer. He had begun a new engineering position the same month he became ill. Even though it was a short time, he left a lasting impact.
Cecil was known as “Coach” to hundreds of HFL players. After every practice he would make sure to do a devotion with the team. He worked hard at building character and integrity through the game of football while using his engineering skills in creating plays. He would say, “It’s not about how big you are, it’s about how fast you hit them.” He had four championship rings to prove that his plays along with the coaching staff and players worked!
Cecil was actively involved at Abundant Life Church International. He served as an usher. As Cecil reflected on his life, he realized that the day of his birth could not even compare to this moment in time. So, with a grateful heart, he took the hand of God and walked towards the majestic gates.
As Cecil waved good-bye to his son and brother, Joshua Mitchell and Troy (Abby) Mitchell; to his nieces, Clarissa Mitchell and Corrie Mitchell; and to a host of relatives and friends…
He reassured them all that this is not how the story ends. “I am not dead. I am not in that body you see. I have stepped into Glory. So, rejoice with me, for I am in the presence of God!”
