Mr. Billy Lee Collins, Sr., passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025. He was born in Scotland County on December 11, 1938, to the late Minnie Lee Collins Thomas. He was raised by his grandparents, Bishop Will Coker and Elizabeth McCall Collins.
In addition to his mother and grandparents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Edward Collins.
Billy graduated from Carver High School in Laurel Hill, NC. He attended Davidson County Community College, where he received a certificate in training and management while working as a supervisor at Barnhardt Manufacturing. After dedicating 35 years to the company, Billy retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment.
He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy Jessup Street, Lexington, NC. In his leisure time, he enjoyed beautifying his yard. A true sports enthusiast, he was an avid fan of football, proudly supporting his favorite team, the Las Vegas Raiders. His love for sports extended beyond football; he also enjoyed watching professional baseball and wrestling. Evenings were often spent relaxing in front of the television, where he delighted in classic shows like "Gunsmoke" and "In the Heat of the Night,"
He leaves to cherish his memories: his lovely wife of 47 years, P. Lynn Collins of the home; children, Billy L. Collins, Jr., (Nakia) of High Point, NC; Brian L. Collins (Cathy) of Thomasville, NC; Kenneth Antwaune Ingram (Pamela) of Winston Salem NC and Nicholas Collins of Kannapolis, NC; grandchildren, Jamall Miller, Brittany Collins, LeShana Collins, Kennissha Jones, Kaleb Ingram, Jaden Ingram Brenden Ingram and Sage Collins; great grandchildren, Zavion Richardson, Leilani Hall and Lennox Jones; one godchild, Diana Rothwell; siblings, Catherine Wilson (Latour dec.), Angela Thomas, Brenda Thomas and Terry Thomas all of Baltimore , MD; Bevelyn Bradley of Washington, NC and Chatmon (Charisse) Thomas, Jr. of Pikesville, MD; uncles, David Collins of Detroit, MI; Nathaniel Collins and Bishop Floyd Collins, Sr. (Barbara) both of High Point, NC; special brother and sister-in-law, James and Sarah Oglesby of High Point, NC; special sister-in-law, Joanne Collins; dear friend, Sharon Anderson of High Point, NC, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Stanton Place Church of God of Prophecy, 1100 Stanton Place, High Point, NC. The family will receive visitors and friends at the church from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. A burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. Public viewing Friday, from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 206 Fourth Street, High Point, NC.
