Barbara Anne (Turner) Goodman

Barbara Ann Turner Goodman, 81 transitioned from her labor to reward on Sunday, February 5, 2023. 

Barbara was born in Davidson County, North Carolina to Virginia B. Turner and Willis Turner, Sr.  She became a lifelong member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she served faithfully with the Willing Workers Ministry, leader of the Culinary Ministry, advisor to the Young Adult Choir and Girl Scout troop, Missionary Ministry, and Golden Girls.  She was twenty-five-year employee with and retired from Jefferson Pilot Insurance Company.  She also worked with Thomas-Haizlip Funeral Service, Thomasville City Schools bus driver; was co-owner of Joahns Boutique, and owner of Bobbi’s Fashion Plus.

She enjoyed working with flowers, painting figurines, sewing, reading, and watching sports.  Her greatest love was spending time with her family.  She was especially protective of her children and their spouses. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Goodman; grandfather, Harry Baldwin; grandmother, Zelma K. Baldwin; and a brother, Willis Turner, Jr.

She leaves to cherish loving memories her children, Marc Goodman (Sara), Carlos Goodman (Jaqueline), Demita Goodman Logan (Tony), and Mary Reid; grandchildren, Quincy Steele, Monte Samuels, Rashun Goodman, Avery Fitzgerald, Katrina Goodman, Carlos Goodman, Shelsea Goodman, and Antonio Logan; seven great grandchildren; in-laws, Laura Jean Goodman Lane (Kenneth); a host of other relatives and beloved friends.

A Service of Celebration will be given of Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 204 Turner St., Thomasville, North Carolina.  The family will receive visitors and friends from 11:30am to 12 noon.  The service will begin at noon.

The Goodman family would like to offer a special Thank You to her caregivers, Helen Eaddy, Rachel Jackson, and Jaronicia Parsons, the entire nursing staff of CNAs at Piedmont Center in Thomasville, Davidson County Hospice, Jasmine & Mya Hairston, Emmanuel Baptist Church, and especially to Carlos & Jackie for her care at home.
